In the early morning of October 11, 1776, an American naval force, under the command of Benedict Arnold, secreted itself on the western side of Valcour Island, waiting for an impressive British fleet sailing south down the lake.

The public is invited to visit the historic Bluff Point Lighthouse on Valcour Island Sundays July 3rd, July 17th, July 24th and July 31st from 1 to 3 pm. On July 10th, the lighthouse will be open from 9 am to 2:30 pm and transportation to the lighthouse will be available between 9 am and 1:30 pm. The cost is $30 per person.

(CCHA) conducts tours of the lighthouse interior on Sunday afternoons in July and August. The lighthouse was built in 1874, the last manned light station on beautiful Lake Champlain.
