Eric Lecarde is a more powerful character than John due to being slightly faster, and his weapon — the Alucard Spear — has a longer range yet does slightly less damage than John's whip. The spear can also be upgraded a total of three times, and Eric has access to the same additional sub-weapons as his partner.

Fans Speculation Many fans have speculated that Eric is actually a descendant of a line started by Alucard and Maria Renard after the events of Symphony of the Night, where they are seen running off together in the ending. The surname Lecarde is similar to Alucard and it would explain why Alucard entrusted Eric with his spear.

I tried some Eric Lecarde fanart,a true ''elf'' looklike spearman for sure r/castlevania

But of couse that's brilliant. oh man I'm pumped for this now. I always played as Eric in Bloodlines. John is cool too, and it's awesome that both characters were given their own unique sets of moves and traversal abilities, but there's just something neat about hunting vampires with a friggin spear. Great game.
