Centro Velico Caprera is one of the oldest Italian sailing schools and also one of the largest of the Mediterranean Sea. Since its foundation in 1967 it has been attended by over 100,000 students. The legal head office is located at La Maddalena and the base of operations is situated on the island of Caprera, on the Maddalena archipelago.

Scheduled construction activities require a weekend closure of the southbound loop on-ramp to US-101 off De La Cruz Blvd. The on-ramp will be closed from 5:00 AM Saturday, 12/17 to 5:00 AM Monday, 12/19. The Centro Velico Caprera was established by notarial deed in 1967 as a non-profit association. Founding members are the Italian Touring Club and the Milan branch of the Italian Naval League which, under the High Patronage of the Italian Navy, receive in concession from the Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy Admiral Alessandro Michelagnoli, the land and the military structures of the south.
