I've always loved the blue hand with one red segment and might make that my eventual X Files tattoo, but I only recently learned that the shot of the germinating seed or pea was a seed at all. A little company called Castle / Bryant / Johnsen was then hired and given a couple months to design an intro, with Carter's input. They took his "The X Files" logo and shone a sweeping light on it to give it that mysterious effect.
