The Old Masters Museum occupies one wing of a grand neoclassical building designed in the late-19 th century by Belgian architect Alphonse Balat (who also designed several features for King Leopold II's Royal Palace). Entrance to the Old Masters wing is at the end of an atrium just inside the main building.
