Blata tal-Melh. You can embrace your adventurous side with a trip to Blata tal-Melh. Blata tal-Melh won't appear on many lists of where to go in Malta. But that doesn't mean it's not worth the trek. Blata tal-Melh is a private, cliffside nature preserve in Rabat. You'll have to explore, hike, and repel to find Blata tal-Melh's most beautiful spots.

Don't worry, you don't have to walk all the way to Blata tal-Melh. It's also nice to trek approximately half way, sit down, take in the beauty of the area and go back. We started as a group of eight adventurers and finished as a group of seven.

At Blata tal-Melh there are two routes you can take, either going south for a wall dive where you can explore lots of cracks, holes and crevasses for marine life or going north to dive over boulders of various sizes, housing lots of fish around and underneath them. There is also a nice inlet which is ideal for doing your decompression or safety.

Il-Blata tal-Melh, loosely translated as "the rock of salt", lies on the coast of Bahrija behind the area known as L-Imtahleb. The stretch of coast lies just south of Ras ir-Raheb, just off Fomm ir-Riħ Bay. The only access is on foot via a 30-minute trek down steep uneven ground, closer to 45 minutes on the way up.

An easy and pleasant excursion that proceeds along Malta's south-east coast to Blata Tal-Melh. The route continues towards Bahrija. The last part is on a stretch of road before returning to the starting point and completing a loop. Along the way, one can admire beautiful views of the sea.

The views are amazing! Maltese coastline is just impressive. What sea water is able to make out of the Maltese limestone is pretty awesome! Miracles! Quite often, when out and about on my adventures, I have to jump, run, slide or climb a bit to get to my desire location.
