Unfortunately, Gozo's famed Azure Window sea arch crumbled into the sea during a big storm in March 2017, but the surrounding Dwejra Bay coastline is still wildly spectacular. Boat trips exploring the nearby Inland Sea also take in views of the arch underwater in gin-clear Mediterranean waters, while it's also possible to dive in the nearby.

Inland Sea is a little misleading as this stretch of water is only the size of a small lake. But it is a notable landmark and we were surprised how knowledgeable the local boatman were during a short 15 minute ride through the cave entrance seaward. This is very cheap (a few Euros each) and enhances the visit.

Inland Sea is a shallow semi-circular lagoon of about 60 m wide connected to the Mediterranean Sea by 80 m long Tunnel cave through the rock. There is not much to see for divers in the Inland Sea. In the Inland Sea the maximum depth is around 2m. The bottom of the tunnel gets deeper and deeper.

Scuba divers enter the tunnel at the Inland Sea and exit in open sea, or vice versa. This exciting dive is known for its ambiance such as the play of light on walls covered with coral and sponges.
