Papilio glaucus, the eastern tiger swallowtail, is a species of butterfly native to eastern North America. It is one of the most familiar butterflies in the eastern United States, [3] ranging north to southern Ontario, Canada, [4] and is common in many different habitats.

Tigerwing Butterflies

The forewing spans 4 to 7.6 cm. The males are yel­low, with black tiger stripes. A large black bor­der sur­rounds the edges of the wings. In Geor­gia, the col­or­ing has more of an or­ange hint. The sub­species aus­tralis has been ap­plied to these south­east­ern tiger swal­low­tails. Fe­males are di­mor­phic.
