The Grim Reaper Art Print by Hugo Gravel Society6

Mirror Reaper, by the funeral doom metal band Bell Witch, is an immense 83-minute composition in which tonal organization plays an essential role in enhancing and creating meaning.Little analytical attention has been paid to doom metal; armed with a flexible conception of theories of tonal harmony and my full transcription of the album, I show that slow, repetitive music and rich engagement.

Mirror Reaper skirts the boundary of focused and narrow. Every instance of pain points in the same direction, a monument to the album's implicit goal. However, coupled with the record's titanic length and extensive, sobering development, Mirror Reaper is a difficult listen to get through in one sitting. At its best, the album can turn 15.

There's the solemn clean vocals, courtesy of Dylan Desmond and frequent collaborator Erik Moggridge of Aerial Ruin, whose performances have a meditative and mournful tone to them, and there's Jesse Shreibman's earth-moving growl, which looms over the album and makes its presence felt, in a similar way to how Guerra's death influenced this piece.

Mirror Reaper is a single song, spanning over 83 minutes. Its core idea is that of the maxim "As Above, So Below", the idea of two mirroring halves forming the essence of the greater whole.

What is the meaning behind Mirror Reaper? I need the meaning of a song for a school project and I decided to choose Mirror Reaper by Bell Witch. But what exactly does it mean? The lyrics are quite complicated and it's hard to find out what it's about. 73 29 comments Add a Comment Llesnad • 3 yr. ago Excerpt from interview with the band

Mirror Reaper - 92%. One shouldn't judge an album by its cover, but the phenomenal art of Mirror Reaper is something to behold. The desolate painted landscape and the small reaper in the bottom left may go unnoticed compared to the huge mirror and the demon struggling to make its way through, but the overall artwork with its beautiful colours.

As the lyrics came along, the "mirror reaper" phrases were being repeated, and conceptually it seemed less generic and better encompassed the lyrical content as a title. As a mirror reaper, it implies an Ouroboros—without the object in itself there's nothing to reflect and the reaper implication makes it destroying itself all the while.

Such a massive piece of music might sound daunting. Especially if you're an outsider to the genre, jumping into a movie length doom metal song doesn't exactly sound inviting. But Mirror Reaper is a transcendent work, immaculately and lovingly composed by its mourning creators. Much like a film, it moves across themes and sets up powerful.
