History of the Salt Lake City Assembly Hall

The Assembly Hall was built mostly using left over granite from the Salt Lake Temple. Unlike the Temple, the granite for the Assembly Hall was not finished nor polished which gives it a rougher, gray appearance. One reason for his proposal was because the Salt Lake Tabernacle proved too difficult to heat with the available technology. The Assembly Hall has limited hours (11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily). Beehive House The Beehive House is available to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Church History Library The library is open to the public. The reading room is open by appointment.
