Description Plumheaded Finches measure about 11 cm or 4.3 inches in length (including its tail). Males and females look alike; except the female lacks the male's black chin spot. Description The Plum-headed Finches breed mostly from September-January in the south and August-March in the north.

The Plum Headed finch (Neochmia modesta) is found across eastern Australia from Northern Queensland through to New South Wales.
